The child isolated in Lanzarote has tested negative for coronavirus in the test that was performed this Thursday, as confirmed to La Voz by health sources.

The minor, who is four years old, recently traveled to Italy and since Wednesday was isolated in his home, waiting for the test to be performed by the Molina Orosa Hospital, which is the only hospital center on a non-capital island that has the capacity to do so.

On the other hand, the Government of the Canary Islands has reported that the five positives for coronavirus detected in the archipelago continue to be "in good health" and that two still do not even present symptoms. The last one was confirmed on Wednesday night, in La Gomera, being a citizen who traveled to Italy and, upon returning to the Canary Islands and after being in home isolation in recent days, the relevant tests were carried out.

"The Canary Islands can undoubtedly say that it is a safe Community for both visitors and residents," said the Minister of Health, Teresa Cruz, who appeared this Thursday at a press conference together with the Minister of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Julio Pérez; and the head of Epidemiology of the General Directorate of Public Health, Domingo Núñez. "We have a health system that, immediately and effectively, has been able to detect possible cases that have arrived," added Cruz, highlighting that "all are imported".

Departure of 130 guests from the Tenerife hotel allowed

On the other hand, the Minister of Health has reported on the modification of the order issued on the 24th to individualize the measures to be adopted in the hotel in Adeje (Tenerife), so that "workers will be able to enter and leave the hotel, adopting the necessary protection measures to intervene normally".

This is in addition to the 130 people, of 11 different nationalities, who arrived at the hotel on the 24th, who "have not had contact with the positives" and who will be able to leave the hotel while remaining under their own surveillance. To this end, a meeting was held this Thursday morning with the different consulates affected, finding "good predisposition to be able to transfer the different fellow citizens to their countries of origin".

In this regard, the Canarian Government states that the current efforts are aimed at making the departure of guests more flexible, pending final ratification by the judicial authorities.

The Minister also reported that samples of suspected cases of coronavirus are currently being analyzed throughout the Canary Islands, noting that all those obtained in both the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the province of Las Palmas have been negative. Cruz Oval also expressed her gratitude to the workers of the Canarian Health Service "for the enormous task" carried out these days, "providing a service to the entire Canarian citizenry".

"We are detecting possible infections that may be coming from outside, adopting the necessary measures in each case, assessing that so far there has been no transmission in our territory," said the head of Epidemiology of the General Directorate of Public Health, who also reported that measures are being taken and samples are being taken from people who may have had direct contact with the positive case in La Gomera.
