The Tourist Centers have placed purchase orders for dry white wine worth 5,000 euros to some of the wineries attached to the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Wines of Lanzarote that paid the farmer a price of 3 euros per kilo of grapes. Specifically, it has been to the wineries El Grifo, La Geria, La Grieta, Vulcano, La Mareta and Vega de Yuco. Los Bermejo's, for their part, will serve the Entity the proportional part of the quota corresponding to the month of December, while Bodegas Guiguan remains waiting for a second bottling to meet the request of the Tourist Centers.

"The Tourist Centers will acquire wine for the same amount as the rest of the wineries as they develop their bottling process," they point out from the entity.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and of the Board of Directors of the Tourist Centers, María Dolores Corujo, has thanked "the effort of farmers and winemakers to reach a historic island agreement", and has explained that this initiative of the Tourist Centers "is the response to a commitment acquired with a fundamental sector of this island, which gives visibility to the effort, work and passion of those who do so much to conserve and maintain the insular landscape".

The CEO of the Tourist Centers, Benjamín Perdomo, for his part, recalled that "it was this government group that decided to establish the sale of Designation of Origin Wines of Lanzarote exclusively in the restaurants of the Tourist Centers, which guarantees the consumption of this local product of such high quality in the best showcases of the island".

Commitment to the primary sector

The purchase of wine worth 5,000 euros from the wineries of the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Wines of Lanzarote that paid 3 euros per kilo of grapes to the producer is the result of a commitment by the Tourist Centers to the island's primary sector. "We wanted to contribute our grain of sand to maintain a traditional industry so rooted in the culture and history of this island," Perdomo pointed out.
