The Canary Islands closed this Monday with a slight rebound of eight positive cases, increasing the total number of accumulated cases to 2,268, and with two more deaths, bringing the total to 151, according to the data update at 8:00 p.m. by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands.
The archipelago has also registered 65 discharges and reaches 1,456 since the pandemic began, while active cases continue to decrease and now stand at 661, mainly in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (133), La Laguna (124) and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (47).
By islands, Tenerife remains in the lead with 1,442 cases, followed by Gran Canaria (556), La Palma (96), Lanzarote (85), Fuerteventura (45), La Gomera (8) and El Hierro (3).
By sex, the coronavirus affects women more than men --1,238 compared to 1,30 cases respectively-- while the most affected age group is 40-49 years with 404 cases.
In the case of mortality, which particularly punishes Tenerife with 103 deaths, it especially affects those over 80 years of age, with 71 deaths.
