The Youth Area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, directed by the councilor Paula Corujo, has designed a complete program of activities, conferences and workshops that will take place during the next weeks on the occasion of International Youth Day.
Coinciding with this anniversary, this Thursday, August 12, the series of talks and debates 'Chatting in Lanzarote' begins online, where young people from various fields talk about music and the values it transmits, Canarian art in all its aspects, nature and the environment. These talks can be followed on the Youtube Channel of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
In addition, the councilor announces that the Eco Academia will start next week, “a project where the young people of the island can participate, free of charge, and learn, in a practical and proactive way, the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN, and connect with values as important as solidarity, mental and social ecology or tolerance, among others.”
The Eco Academia, which will advance throughout the month of August, will be held outdoors, will have several days to learn how to reduce the carbon footprint; to disconnect from new technologies and connect with the environment and nature; to know the keys to personal growth and be exemplary citizens or promote the circular economy and recycling through workshops, conferences and collective actions that impact our environment.
On the last day of the Eco Academia, on September 4, a Market-Barter will be held in the Plaza de Santa Elena in Playa Honda. Young people interested in participating in this Eco Academia can register at the email ecoacademia2021@gmail.com.
I Conference for civic participation and social innovation
On the other hand, and within the programming of the Youth Area, the first Conference for civic participation and social innovation of the youth of Lanzarote will also be held during the second half of September.
“This is an opportunity to generate a space for debate and reflection around fundamental issues so that young people develop social entrepreneurship initiatives based on cooperation and civic participation within the framework of action provided by digital media and technologies,” explains councilor Paula Corujo.
The sessions will be developed as talks-debates between various speakers, with a virtual space enabled where attendees can express their doubts, reflections, impressions and conclusions about the topics that will be discussed during them.
