The Arrecife City Council has organized the 1st Meeting of "Conscious Education from Childhood". The conference, which will take place between Thursday, September 29 and Saturday, October 1 at the Civic Center, is free and open to the public, with prior registration.

According to the Councilor for Culture, Rafael Juan González, it is "a conference aimed at parents, teachers and educators in which various topics of interest to the educational community will be discussed, providing them with a space with tools and guidance on how to educate from consciousness."

All activities (except Storytelling) are designed for an adult audience, although there will be a playroom available so that parents with younger children can enjoy them. Registrations can be made directly at the Arrecife Civic Center or through the website www.isla-lanzarote.es. Places will be confirmed by email and/or telephone.

There will be seven workshops in total, the first of which, "Mindfulness and Emotions", will take place on Thursday, September 29 at 5:30 p.m. and will be given by Sirlene Alonso (lawyer, trainer and facilitator of mindfulness groups).

Storytelling, yoga, conferences and mindfulness

Mindfulness is a practice of full attention, which consists of paying attention to what is happening in the present moment, both in the mind and in the body or the environment, with an attitude of curiosity and kindness, which in the context of an educational environment will enrich its members with a set of skills aimed at self-perception, self-understanding and self-regulation. These aspects of the private sphere, once conquered, "naturally extend to the relationship with others and with the environment, thus configuring itself as one of the most powerful tools to achieve personal and social well-being", explains the City Council. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and footwear.

Next, at 7:15 p.m., the workshop "The connection with the inner child" will be held, by Jezabel Suárez (graduated in Nursing in 2003 and since 2006 developing her work in the Oncohematology unit of the Dr. José Molina Orosa hospital).

The connection with the inner child is a therapeutic tool that serves to heal our own conscious and even unconscious wounds. For this workshop, it is advised that the participant bring a mat and cushion, paper and pen.

On Friday, September 30 (6:00 p.m.) it is the turn of the Storytelling "Siara, the brave elf" with Patricia Campos (graduated in children's therapist assistant and environmental education monitor), better known as Superhada Patricia.

The storytelling involves all the people attending it, whether children or adults. In it, the adventures of the characters in the story will be experienced as a means of reaching us. The story is a tool that promotes, in the person or child who listens to it, a better understanding of himself/herself, as long as he/she is allowed to immerse himself/herself in the moral that it presents to us.

"Become yourself what you want your child to be" (parents: towards their full self-realization as human beings), is the title of the conference that Gloria Artiles will give on Friday, September 30 at 7:15 p.m. (degree in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, trained in personal coaching by Coaching Madrid).

The conference based on the training process "Integral Development of the Human Being" aims to promote among parents the awareness of promoting their self-realization as mentally lucid, emotionally balanced and spiritually awake human beings.

The last three workshops will be held on Saturday, October 1: The first of them, "Traditional Hatha Yoga", will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be taught by Beverly Ann Philip (degree in Managerial and Administrative Sciences). A Yoga class will be held starting with a mantra with the intention of thanking and greeting all the teachers who have shared these teachings.

Traditional Hatha Yoga is a science of total liberation, where the body and mind are united with the intention of harmonizing them and thus connecting with the heart and finding our true being. Material for the workshop: comfortable clothing, yoga mat, cushion and blanket.

Next, at 10:45 a.m., Rosi Castro (author of the book 'Whispering with the Soul' is a facilitator of individual and group Family Constellations) will talk about "Boys and girls as mirrors reflecting the burdens of parents and educators."

"The workshop is based on the fact that the boys and girls of today will be the men and women of tomorrow; clear mirrors that carry in their unconscious emotional pressures of family burdens. They will create the society of the future based on the balance that each of them reaches according to their emotional education," explains the City Council.

"The school: a place to feel and create", is the title of the last of the workshops of these days. It will take place on Saturday, October 1 at 12:30 p.m. and will be taught by Janett Martín (degree in Teaching), who will talk about her own experience in an educational center and will give the guidelines on how to go from educating under fear to educating from love.
