The Teguise City Council, through the Department of Education, has brought cultural workshops inspired by the Canary Islands traditions to the municipality's educational centers during the months of May and June.
The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, visited the Muñique school, where the students have learned to prepare typical gastronomic recipes, such as mojo or gofio, and also to make penca toys, among other native customs that the City Council and the educational community have continued to implement throughout the network of schools in Teguise, through the Experimenta Lanzarote project.
“I congratulate the educational community for their dedication and commitment to keeping traditions alive among our children,” Betancort said. “It is a source of pride to see how work continues to be done to rescue what is ours in a municipality like Teguise, which has always sought to pay tribute to our cultural heritage,” he added.

The councilor of the area, Javier Díaz, thanked “the participation of the CEIP and the rural schools in this project, which has been running since 2017 and which we will repeat in future courses so that our children can soak up the most Canarian traditions and can share the result of the experience at home.”
