The Antimonturrios Patrol and their teacher Luz María Duque Dorta, from the CEIP El Quintero in San Bartolomé, have been awarded within the 'Inventando Crecemos' project, launched by the Educational Programs and Complementary Activities Service of the Government of the Canary Islands during the 2020/2021 academic year in the archipelago's schools. The students of the Lanzarote school have won the first prize of the Canary Islands in the A2 category, with a video entitled 'D. José Mª Gil, a man for others', being the only Primary Education center to reach the final.
During the development of the project, the students investigated the figure of the well-known folklorist José Mª Gil, highlighting his most human side and revealing lesser-known aspects of his life. In addition, the soundtrack of the video is composed by the students themselves, who perform a well-known musical piece by the aforementioned protagonist 'El Sorondongo'.

From the CEIP El Quintero it is pointed out that this project has served to promote and enhance the interest of students in research, as well as teamwork and linguistic skills and abilities. Likewise, the "great involvement" of families in its development is highlighted.

The winning video will be part of a resource bank available on the website of the Ministry of Education.
