The Scottish man Robert Campbell, known as Rab, who had been missing for a week while on vacation in Lanzarote, has been found dead.
According to the Anglo-Saxon media Daily Record, Campbell was scheduled to take a flight back to Scotland on May 11, along with a friend, "but he became ill and had to be transferred to the hospital from the airport," they point out.
"Devastated to hear what happened to my uncle Robert Campbell, who was missing in Lanzarote and has been found dead. His first vacation and he has not returned. Fly high," his niece shared in a Facebook post.
Not knowing anything about him, two people from his family traveled to Lanzarote on May 16 to try to locate him. Before arriving on the island, they published his photograph on different platforms. Among them, the page of Missing Persons Spain.
"Robert is vulnerable and lost in a foreign country, on his first trip outside of Scotland, so he is probably not sure about what he needs to do to get home," said another user of the platform.
"The man was enjoying his first vacation abroad, when he separated from his friend at the airport," the aforementioned media states.
After confirming his death, his sister Margueritte Devine has launched a micro-financing campaign to raise 6,000 pounds to be able to take his body to Scotland.
