The Emergency Directorate, under the Ministry of Territorial Policy of the Government of the Canary Islands, has decreed a situation of pre-alerts for winds in the archipelago.
Based on the prediction of Aemet and other available sources, Emergencies predicts that strong winds will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3.
The wind will be from the southeast, with an average speed between 20 and 40 kilometers per hour that will generate local accelerations downwind, with probable gusts that will reach or exceed between 50 and 70 kilometers per hour.
According to the emergency pre-alert, the most affected areas will be the western islands, especially El Hierro, La Palma and La Gomera.
Likewise, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) predicts a haze episode in the second half of the day in both Lanzarote and Fuerteventura for Friday, January 3 and Saturday, January 4, where significant reductions in visibility are not ruled out.
