The municipalities of Lanzarote will host masses and open their cemeteries to celebrate All Saints' Day, a holiday that will take place this Friday. Some municipalities, such as Arrecife, will extend the opening hours of their cemetery.
Specifically, the Arrecife cemetery will open its doors from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and at 5:00 p.m. the traditional celebration of the word officiated by the parish priest of San Ginés will take place in the cemetery chapel.
The City Council has enabled a special bus service for this Friday in the different neighborhoods of the capital, given the "influx of visits" that are expected, according to Councilor Víctor Sanginés. The stops will be in Valterra, Los Geranios, Altavista, Titerroy, Maneje, San Román cemetery, Argana Alta, Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital, San Francisco Javier and La Vega.
But, in addition, the municipality will celebrate masses on the occasion of this holiday. The church of San Ginés will host masses on Friday at 10:30, 12:00 and 19:30, and on Saturday they will be at 13:15 and 19:30. On Friday, Valterra will also celebrate a mass at 11:00 a.m. and another on Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
Also the church of Altavista will host a celebration on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and another on Saturday at the same time, while in La Vega it will be on Friday at 11:00 a.m. and on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Titerroy on Friday at 10:00 a.m. and on Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
Improvements in the Teguise cemetery
In the municipality of Teguise everything is also ready to honor the deceased, after the City Council put the cemetery "ready" to receive visits from citizens. The parish priest will officiate the celebration of the word in the new cemetery this Friday at 5:30 p.m., in the old cemetery at 6:00 p.m., in Guatiza at 12:00 p.m., in Tao at 6:00 p.m. and in La Graciosa at 4:30 p.m.
The eighth island will also host a mass this day 1 at 7:00 p.m., as will Guatiza, where it will take place at 8:00 p.m. and in Tao at 6:00 p.m. Teguise will officiate two ceremonies, one on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and another on Saturday at the same time.
In the municipality of Haría, the parish priest's visit to the cemetery will be at 11:00 a.m. and the town's church will celebrate masses at 9:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. In San Bartolomé, the parish priest will go to the cemetery at 11:00 a.m. and masses will also be officiated at 12:30 p.m. on Friday and at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. In Playa Honda, the mass will be at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A parish priest will also go to the Tías cemetery at 5:00 p.m. and on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. he will move to the La Candelaria cemetery. In addition, a mass will be officiated in the church of San Antonio on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday they will take place at 11:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., in the churches of Puerto del Carmen and La Candelaria, respectively.
In Tinajo, the traditional celebration of the word will take place at 10:00 a.m. this Friday in the Tinajo cemetery and there will be masses at 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in Mancha Blanca and at 11:00 a.m. in Tinajo, which will also celebrate another on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
