The additional Easter Week restrictions end this Friday at 12 midnight and from Saturday the previous measures will return depending on each alert level. In the case of Lanzarote, it will remain at level 2, as agreed this Thursday at the Canary Islands Governing Council.

For their part, the islands of Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura will continue at alert level 3, despite the fact that their indicators have improved, especially in the last two. “The situation is improving, but we hope it will improve even more”, said the Government spokesperson, Julio Pérez, referring in particular to Fuerteventura and Tenerife. As for El Hierro, La Gomera and La Palma, they remain at level 1, as they are still at “minimum” or “low” risk levels.

Regarding the possible effects of Easter Week on the incidence in the archipelago, the spokesperson for the Canary Islands Government stressed that “it is too early” to assess it, given that cases may take several days to emerge. “It is another reason to wait a few more days”, said Pérez, referring to the decision not to lower the alert level on any island, despite the fact that in the case of Fuerteventura and Tenerife they currently meet the indicators for this.

Among other things, alert level 3 implies the perimeter closure of the island, restricting entries and exits and only allowing travel for justified reasons or the entry of tourists if they are going to stay in a regulated establishment.

As for Lanzarote, most of its indicators (cumulative incidence at 7 and 14 days, occupancy in the ICU and traceability) are at “medium risk”, which is the one that corresponds to that alert level 2 in which it will continue.

The measures that return to the island

Lanzarote managed to drop to level 2 shortly before the additional Easter Week measures came into force, which meant tightening restrictions. Now, meetings of up to six non-cohabiting people will be allowed again and the prohibition of meetings in homes will be eliminated, provided that the established number is not exceeded.

The curfew is also delayed again, which will start at 11 p.m. At level 2, consumption is also allowed in the interior areas of bars and restaurants, although with a capacity that does not exceed 50%. At tables, the maximum number of diners will be four people indoors (six on the terrace), while at the bar only groups of two are allowed.

With respect to physical sports activity, the use of gyms and closed facilities is allowed, although the capacity should not exceed 50%. In outdoor sports spaces and centers, the capacity will be 75%. In both cases, in collective activities in which it is not possible to maintain a distance of 2 meters permanently, groups of 6 people are allowed maximum, including the monitor, and with mandatory use of a mask.

Likewise, with regard to children's and sports urban furniture, sealed in levels 3 and 4, its use is allowed but provided that the town halls allow it and the general prevention, cleaning and disinfection measures are respected.

Regarding cultural activities, the capacity will be 55% and the public can be accommodated in stable cohabitation groups of up to 6 people. Two free seats will be maintained between groups in the same row, and one free seat in front and behind each occupied seat. In case of not having fixed seats, the safety distance of 1.5 meters of separation between groups will be maintained.
