Lanzarote registers three outbreaks in the last week, one in the educational field and another in a restaurant

The Canary Islands have reported a total of 215 outbreaks of Covid-19 and one of them, in La Palma, already has 47 associated cases.

Lanzarote has reported three outbreaks of Covid-19 in the last week, one of them in a restaurant and another in the educational field, as reported by the Ministry of Health. As for the Canary Islands as a whole, a total of 215 outbreaks have been detected in the last seven days, with 1,193 associated cases so far. Of these outbreaks, 131 have occurred in Tenerife, 65 in Gran Canaria, 11 in Fuerteventura, four in La Palma and one in La Gomera, in addition to the three in Lanzarote.

Regarding those detected on this island, none exceeds ten associated cases. The restaurant has so far five confirmed positives and the educational one seven, including family ramifications.

In general, all outbreaks detected in the Canary Islands have fewer than 10 associated cases except for 15 outbreaks that exceed that figure, among which the most numerous stand out: a social one with family ramifications linked to nightlife in La Palma with 47 cases; a work-related one with family ramifications with 39 positives in Gran Canaria and related to the construction sector; two social ones with family ramifications in Gran Canaria, one with 27 affected in a birthday celebration and another with 13 cases related to a barbecue; a social one with 16 positives in a family and friends meeting in Fuerteventura; two sports ones in Gran Canaria with 16 and 14 cases; and three social ones in Tenerife with 13, 12 and 12 affected.

Regarding the outbreaks of work origin, one stands out in Gran Canaria with 13 cases reported in a food industry, one in Tenerife with six cases in a construction company, another with five affected in Gran Canaria also in a company in this sector, another in Gran Canaria with seven cases linked to commercial activity, another in Gran Canaria with five affected in a hairdressing and beauty company, three in Tenerife in three offices, with five, four and three cases; and seven linked to restaurants, five of them in Tenerife (with seven, four, three, three and three associated cases), another in La Gomera (with three people affected) and the one in Lanzarote.

Regarding the educational outbreaks, all with family ramifications, in addition to the one in Lanzarote, there are four in Tenerife, with seven, six, four and four affected. In addition, there have been four sports outbreaks, three of them in Gran Canaria, with 16, 14 and 11 cases, and one in Tenerife, with eight people affected.

With respect to health outbreaks, one has been reported at the La Paloma Clinic in Gran Canaria, with 10 affected, including two patients, and the other at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands (Tenerife), with three patients and one worker affected.
