After two years of severe drought that our island of Lanzarote has suffered, the farmers of Tinajo have finally been able to release the goats in places such as Caldera Blanca in the area near Timanfaya Park. In these places they have been grazing freely and taking advantage of the grass from last December to the present month of May by the farmers,
This past Saturday they scheduled the so-called "Apañada", an act that consists of collecting livestock from the coast. The farmers, provided with some dogs and some family members and friends, were summoned at six in the morning to carry out the location of each head and regroup them in a temporarily fenced place until they are all there. Subsequently, the new members who have been born during said release are marked. Once this ceremony is over, the farmers and companions come together to taste a succulent meal prepared by the most skilled of them and who is always an extraordinary chef,
The "Apañada" according to the most knowledgeable of the place is a heritage that was practiced on the island before the conquest, this year 20 farmers participated in it, regrouping about 200 head of cattle.
