A total of 450 immigrant minors receive specific training aimed at promoting their socio-labor integration in the province of Las Palmas thanks to the collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Social Welfare and the Canarian Employment Service and the Main Canarian Foundation.
In order to learn about the evolution of the program specifically on the island of Lanzarote, the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare and Immigration, Francisco Candil, visited this Thursday, together with the Minister of Social Welfare of the Island Council of Lanzarote, Marci Acuña, the facilities of the Main Foundation in Arrecife where he was able to learn firsthand the first results of this initiative, the Ministry reports in a statement.
“This program seeks to provide migrant minors who are under the tutelage of the Canarian Government with the necessary tools to enable them to acquire the knowledge, skills and training necessary to facilitate their access to employment”, says Candil.
To materialize this program, a collaboration agreement has been established between the Ministry of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood and Families, the Canarian Employment Service and the Main Canarian Foundation, endowed with a budget of 1,047,457.70 euros.
The project, which lasts twelve months, consists of a complete training program, which includes learning Spanish for foreigners, labor regulations and social integration to the development of professional itineraries and individualized monitoring and support in order to effectively enter the labor market for migrant minors.
The initiative is carried out on the islands of the province of Las Palmas and aims to facilitate access to employment for a total of 450 unaccompanied migrant minors (350 in Gran Canaria, 50 in Fuerteventura and 50 in Lanzarote).
The program consists of two phases, the first focused on establishing a personalized itinerary aimed at improving the knowledge of the Spanish language by migrant minors and the second, specifically aimed at providing employment guidance to each of the participating migrant minors through the design of a personalized itinerary that seeks to enhance their employability.
“The general objective is to promote access to the labor market for migrant minors, first trying to increase their knowledge of the Spanish language in such a way that they obtain sufficient command of the language to later access specific job training itineraries that allow them to acquire socio-labor skills and the technical training necessary to access employment”, says Candil.
The program includes a personalized employment guidance service that provides information, diagnosis of the individual situation, advice and support to unaccompanied migrant minors, in order to help them improve their employability, promoting their professional career and facilitating their hiring, for which there is also a placement and advice service for companies that facilitates connection with employment opportunities appropriate to their profiles and skills.
