The families of students with specific educational support needs (NEAE), students with special educational needs (NEE), and students with serious illnesses on the island of Lanzarote have called a gathering in front of the Island Directorate of Education to "express their disagreement with the treatment of their sons and daughters."
As La Voz reported, this school year did not start the same way for all students on the islands. "It seems that the Ministry decided to change, from spring to autumn, the criteria and the way in which the centers should request these supports. These assistants must be inside the school, every morning, during school hours, closely helping the students assigned to their care," they stated from the NEAE and NEE student commission to this editorial team.
Thus, the relatives have pointed out that the current school year has begun with a lack of "human and material" resources, which the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands must exclusively take care of.
The gathering will take place this Wednesday, October 2, at 9:30 a.m., in front of the Island Directorate of Education of Lanzarote. Thus, with this call, they seek that "everyone is a witness to the reality of the families, which contradicts the version offered" by Education. The Area assured that the school year had started "well."
For this gathering, the parents have the support and backing of the Federation of Associations of Parents of Students of Lanzarote (FAPA) of Lanzarote.
