The II Open Fotosub Lanzarote Mar de Lava, organized by the Pastinaca Underwater Activities Club, was held this weekend between the Veril de Playa Chica, from "Piedra de Las Bicudas" to "El ojo", in Puerto del Carmen.
The awards ceremony, where the winners of the competition were announced, took place in the Auditorium of the Hesperia Lanzarote Hotel on Sunday, July 31. The award for the best model went to Aída Gómez, while the award that best represented the Playa Chica funds went to Samuel Godoy and Regina Muller.
The presented series had to show two environment photos and three fauna photos. In the environment photos, at least one of the photos had to contain a model, while in the fauna photos, one had to be a macro. After several hours of deliberation, the jury decided that the winning series was the one presented by David Barrio and Luisa Quintanilla, the second was the one presented by Javier Medinavietia and Aida Gómez, and the third was the one presented by Juan Valenciano and Blanca Tabares.
The objective of the fotosub contest was to show a point of view
different from the one we all know of the Playa Chica funds, the
positive impact that the Diadema Urchin Eradication project carried out by the C.I.L of Lanzarote has had on the island's funds,
promote the practice of diving on our coastline as an activity
sports committed to the environment and promote
underwater photography on our island as an artistic expression and as
tourist promotion.
