The DJ, producer and colleague of EuropaFM on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero Carlos Chavaud, was the opening act for the Cuban group Gente de Zona at the last San Ginés festivities, in the concert held last Friday, August 25.
Chavaud prepared a show based on "the review of the last 30 years of the San Ginés festivities". "I invented a time machine to travel to San Ginés festivities of the past," he confesses to La Voz.
An original idea in which "the recordings with different phrases that have been part of the festivities" accompanied by "the music that was heard in each of the years" stand out, he argues. In addition, "I had the collaboration of Francisco José Navarro, a man very linked to the festivities and the one in charge of giving voice to each of the phrases", he adds.
"In the 25 or 30 songs that I have chosen, I integrated the singer Rosana with her hit song 'Talismán' that came out in 1996", he says. In addition, "I also took the opportunity to give her prominence" since "she was the town crier of these San Ginés 2023 festivities."
The main objective of the idea was "to educate young people and remember what was heard at that time at the parties", he emphasizes. "I wanted to do something different for all audiences", since "I knew that people of all ages were going to attend", he adds.
An entrance to Gente de Zona that "I took very seriously and spent a whole week preparing it", he reveals. "It was a responsibility, I knew that the Cuban group was going to be a success and was going to fill up", he acknowledges, that's why "I got so involved in preparing the performance and the idea", he says.
"I'm still assimilating the responsibility I had", he points out. At the time of being on stage, "it is true that I did not realize all the people who were there", he says.
"Even the guys from Gente de Zona and their musicians congratulated me after the performance"
After the show, "I have received congratulations from all audiences, both young and old", he reveals. "Even the guys from Gente de Zona and their musicians congratulated me after the performance", he confesses. When choosing the idea, "it helped me a lot that I already knew them and knew a little what kind of audience was going to see them", says Carlos Chavaud.
The DJ thanks the Arrecife City Council and the production company Zukoabega "for counting on me", he concludes.
