The City Council celebrates that CEIP Costa Teguise has reached the final in the Sustainable Educational Centers Awards of the Ministry of Education. Among the 271 schools throughout Spain, the school is among those selected for its proposal for sustainability and care for the environment.

Mayor Olivia Duque values this recognition, the result of the continuous effort of the entire educational community. “CEIP Costa Teguise has been able to integrate respect for the environment and sustainability as part of its educational model, and this is something that we should all value and support," she says.

“It is a pride that our municipality can count on this type of educational center that provides students with essential values that condition our society,” emphasizes the first mayor.

For her part, the Councilor for Education, Mar Boronat, highlights that “the school has been able to turn each space into an active learning environment. The involvement of students in environmental projects is one of the great strengths of this center," she says.

The center has implemented numerous initiatives in its sustainability plan, highlighting the transformation of its educational spaces, with a focus on ecopedagogy and harmonious coexistence with nature. These projects, such as A Tree in my Patio and More than Walls, as well as the creation of a school garden, are some of the actions that support this candidacy.

Likewise, the school has water saving systems, energy saving and temperature reduction, thus creating green areas between the classrooms. The Teguise City Council recognizes its educational work and is committed to the triumph of this initiative so that it can achieve one or more of the ten awards.
