A 'Caretta-caretta' turtle has been rescued in the northern area of Lanzarote, specifically on the Cantería Beach in Órzola. A citizen who was in the area found the turtle stranded on the shore and alerted the local authorities for its subsequent rescue.
"The animal has reached the beach possibly due to adverse wave conditions", says the man. In addition, after this episode, the citizen highlights "the importance of citizen surveillance" and the "rapid individual response" in marine emergency situations.
After performing a quick physical examination, the turtle "did not present any type of wound" on its exterior, although it was later taken to the veterinarian to be treated.
