The musician and timple player Benito Cabrera has announced that he is leaving the direction of Los Sabandeños and leaving the group after almost 15 years in search of new personal projects.

In a 'post' published on his Facebook profile to avoid "he said, she said", he assures that "there are no angers, there is no crisis", specifying that the group "is in a great moment", both humanly and musically.

Therefore, he continues, "the appropriate circumstances exist for a change of direction and to assume the end of a cycle, I need to channel my energies into personal projects and I think it is healthy to let the group travel other paths, so that it continues to excite the world from the Canary Islands."

Cabrera points out that all the members of Los Sabandeños are his "friends", starting with Elfidio Alonso, and highlights that it has been an "immense honor" to have been at the head of such a unique group in the music of the archipelago.

"I have lived unforgettable moments and met wonderful people thanks to Los Sabandeños. I will carry the blanket in my soul forever and I will continue to share moments with my colleagues when they require me," he concludes.
