The donkey "Sonrisas" won again, for the second consecutive year, the fifth edition of the Pet Costume Contest, which was held last Sunday in the Plaza Cámilo José Cela in the Villa de Teguise. The Hernández Quesada family, owner of the donkey, once again won this award of 200 euros.

"Sonrisas" thus became the best-dressed pet in the municipality. This time his family decided to dress him as a graduate, while last year he was emulating basketball player Pau Gasol.

Second place was won by the rabbit "Fabián" for his pilot costume. His owner Laura Dosantos received the prize, which consisted of 150 euros. The bronze medal in this particular contest was won by the dog Jocky, who entered the championship wearing a clown suit. The owner of the dog, Bárbara Cabrera, was awarded 100 euros.

This year more than 20 participants entered the contest and at least five were unable to compete due to lack of prior registration. The jury was made up of journalist Jaime Puig, the president of the Canarian Presa Dog Association, Laureano Álvarez, and designer Carmen Martín.
