Maritime Rescue has gone to the rescue, on the afternoon of this Monday, of a boat that was 188 kilometers northwest of Lanzarote.
According to the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, the boat was carrying 35 men of Maghrebi origin, one of them a child under ten years of age. In addition, they have indicated that four people had to be transferred to the Molina Orosa Hospital, although none of them were in serious condition.
The newspaper La Provincia has pointed out that it was a Danish oil tanker that spotted the boat 210 kilometers from the coast of Lanzarote. In addition, they detail that the ship, which was en route from Portugal to Brazil, "provided food and water to the immigrants", and Salvamar asked them to stay in the area until the Guardamar arrives to meet them, as a spokeswoman for Maritime Rescue informed the Efe agency.
Due to the bad sea conditions, the journey has been extended and the ship is sailing at reduced speed, so it is expected to arrive at the Arrecife Commercial dock around 11:00 this Tuesday.
