An Italian tourist has captured, through a video shared with La Voz, how an underwater outfall releases sewage into the sea in Lanzarote.
The video, which was recorded in broad daylight, in front of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, shows the discharge of sewage on the coast. This visitor has indicated that the area had a very "bad smell", a common reality for those who frequent the area.
In this sense, the images were taken last Tuesday, April 1, after 5:15 p.m. in the afternoon.
At the beginning of 2024, the Arrecife City Council had to raise the red flag on El Reducto beach, a few meters from this outfall, due to spills of wastewater into the sea after the rain. This measure was adopted after Public Health of the Canary Islands Government requested it from the council.
