The II Estefanía Curbelo Consciousness Festival brought together more than 300 people at the Convent of Santo Domingo in Teguise to celebrate art and music.
The event featured a varied program that included songs by the singer-songwriter performed by her daughter, Carla Castro Curbelo, Nereyda González, Beni Ferrer, and the group Calicanto, whose voices and strength created wonderful moments, accompanied by maestro Gopar and Israel Curbelo, who were the musical essence of the festival.
Tamara Illán made us feel the emotion of flamenco accompanied by the clapping of María Belén García, a teacher at CEIP Costa Teguise, as well as gifting us other magical moments on stage. With her voice and sweetness, Elvia moved the audience, conveying to us that “Artists are translators of emotions” with her song “Don’t tell anyone”. Live art was provided by Iván Tempera, showing his creative process in front of the attendees throughout the festival.
The festival also featured the presence of Duende Josele, musician, poet, and singer-songwriter, reciting poems by Estefanía as well as delighting us with his song "Virgen de las ausencias" from his triple album Amigos y Maestros. A voice that unites art, consciousness, and emotion. Art was also transformed into words with the writer Amuhaici Miranda Martín sharing her book "El juego de Ena". Cheli Bona, Diego Igarzabal, and Ricardo Díaz joined on stage to create a special musical moment because music has the power to heal, and they achieved it
Another magical moment was when the students of CEIP Costa Teguise, led by Alejandro Rodríguez, offered a vibrant percussion performance with the voice of Israel Curbelo. Manu, a student from IES Costa Teguise, once again participated in this edition with his voice, which once again captivated all attendees.
The festival featured the artist and designer from Lanzarote, Ángel Cabrera, who with his talent and good taste joined the festival, contributing beauty with his hand-painted silk pieces, where salt, cochineal, and natural pigments recreate the reflections and colors of the salt pools that adorned the event's presenters, Laura Minaya, a teacher at CEIP Costa Teguise, and Carla Castro Curbelo. The artisanal bracelets from Nairoa Shop were a gift given to all attendees, featuring the word "Conciencia" (Consciousness) and a butterfly symbolizing transformation, freedom, and rebirth, values that also represent the spirit of the festival.
The painting exhibition “Piel de Tunera” by Mar Romero, an artist and teacher at CEIP Costa Teguise, has concluded. A visual proposal inspired by the volcanic landscape and the elements of the sea. “Piel de Tunera” is born from the resilience of an island and its nature, which survives the sun, the wind, and the volcano. You can visit the exhibition until December 16th.
The CEIP Costa Teguise, as the organizing entity, was the main driving force behind this initiative, which had the valuable and selfless participation of numerous artists. Thanks to the support of the Teguise City Council and Estefanía Curbelo's family, the festival has established itself as a space for cultural encounter, emotion, and reflection on the island of Lanzarote.
The evening concluded with a tasting of local wines and cheeses, courtesy of Bodegas La Geria, Vega de Yuco, Quesería El Faro, and Mermeladas Lala.
Mayor Olivia Duque defined the spirit of the festival with a clear message: "to stir the audience's emotions." With these words, she highlighted the event's intention to connect with attendees through a vibrant program and cultural experiences capable of awakening unique sensations.
