The association founded to defend the rights of autistic people in Lanzarote, SentirTEA, will hold the first Autism Congress of Lanzarote on April 20 at the El Fondeadero Assembly Hall in Puerto del Carmen.
The event aims to create a space for training and guidance for families and professionals on the island, both in the fields of psychology, pedagogy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, as well as in the educational and health fields. It will have a morning and an afternoon session with a break for lunch.
During the program, the first presentation of the day will begin at 10:00 a.m. by Daniel Millán, Bachelor of Clinical and Health Psychology (UCM), Expert in ASD, with an intervention entitled 'Truly Understanding Autism'. The second presentation will be at 11:00 a.m. by Dafne Santana, Occupational Therapist certified in Sensory Integration, ADOS-2, ADIR, SIPT, SOSI-M, PS, who will address 'What is Sensory Processing?'.
After the first break of the day, at 12:30 p.m., Raquel Ayuda will be the next speaker. Professional as a Professor of the Diploma of Advanced Specialization in Psychoeducational Intervention in Autism Spectrum Disorders, also a founding partner of the Deletrea Center in Madrid. The name of her presentation 'Let no one change. Strategies to improve inflexibility'. The next speaker, Mª Teresa Peña Quintana, Bachelor of Psychology and Doctor of Education from the ULL and head of the Labor Integration area of Sinpromi. Cabildo de Tenerife. “Labor Inclusion of people with ASD”.
In the next and last break of the day there will be a Catering for the rest and enjoyment of the people attending the Congress as well as for the speakers. Once the break is over, we will start again with the last three presentations. At 3:30 p.m., Sol Fortea Sevilla, Doctor of Psychology and Professor at the ULPGC. Director of the Department of Psychology, Sociology and Social Work, she will begin the last part with the participation 'Diagnosis of ASD: current challenges'.
Next, at 4:30 p.m., the Occupational Therapist, Celia Roldán, expert in Neurodevelopment, Early Care and child feeding, as well as Professor at the Camilo José Cela University, will intervene with Challenges in Feeding in Autism: three factors to take into account”. And as the last speaker of the event, Elisabetta Bertola, Professor at the University of Nebrija and University of Camilo José Cela, Doctorate in AAC and postgraduate TMO. It is named 'Training on AAC'.
To conclude the Congress, a round table will take place at 6:30 p.m., coordinated by the psychologist and autistic Noemí Velamazán, in which to share some of the conclusions of a quality training and information day.
