Proexca and the Island Councils support, under the unified concept for going abroad, Canary Islands Fashion Islands, the largest participation of Canarian designers in the Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2025. At the most important international event in the sector, five Canarian designers under Canary Islands Fashion Islands and the Canarian firm Marco&María, in a solo fashion show, have shown their bridal collections.
OGADENIA Couture and Pedro Palmas, from Gran Canaria Moda Cálida; Amarca and By Loleiro, from Tenerife Moda; and Oswaldo Machín, representing Lanzarote Moda, dazzled this Saturday before the watchful eyes of professionals and international critics. Their delicacy when creating, their way of working and understanding fashion, under the Slow Fashion Canarias concept, and their determined commitment to go out and discover new international markets have attracted the attention of the sector.
These designers have made a name for themselves among the 30 designers who have held fashion shows, in what has been the most spectacular edition of this event in its 30-year history. More than 450 brands have participated in total, which represents an increase of 12% compared to the previous year. In addition, 82% of the participating firms have been international, from countries such as Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, the United States, Ukraine, Poland and Turkey.
For creative director Oswaldo Machín, participating in this high-impact platform underlines the brand's vision to consolidate itself internationally. "We take advantage of the networking and business opportunities offered by this leading forum in an edition where 82% are international buyers," he said. The director of By Loleiro, Marisa Velázquez, highlighted the responsibility they feel for being at this event representing the group. "We are aware of being the first accessories firm to go on this catwalk and we acquire a commitment to our sector. Normally, accessories do not access these business windows carrying the artisan work as a flag, with pieces of feather work, millinery and jewelry," she pointed out.
The Foreign Promotion technician of Proexca, Paula Hernández, has accompanied this delegation pointing out the opportunity that this international event represents for the Canarian industry. "This action is strategic for the global expansion of the participating Canarian firms, since the main actors, buyers and prescribers of the sector converge, being the global epicenter of the bridal industry," she concluded.
