More than forty healthcare students begin their internships at Molina Orosa

The Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital, affiliated with the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, has welcomed 42 students from the Vocational Training cycles in Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine, Nursing Assistant, and Pharmacy and Parapharmacy, who are beginning their practical training at the hospital center.

During the welcome event, the hospital's Nursing Directorate, through the Technical Unit and student tutors, informed the students about the **work dynamics they will undertake at the center**, as well as the different services and units they will rotate through during their stay at Molina Orosa.

Vocational Training students' internships will be at all times under the supervision of healthcare professionals who, from the first day at the center, explain and train on behaviors and attitudes in the healthcare setting, on hospital hygiene, as well as on other aspects related to confidentiality and professional secrecy.

 

Rotation: techniques, knowledge, and skills

Students in the higher vocational training program for Clinical and Biomedical Laboratory will rotate through the Hematology, Blood Bank, Clinical Analysis, Microbiology, and Phlebotomy departments.

For their part, Nursing Assistant students will train in different hospitalization units and areas, where they will acquire knowledge about basic nursing techniques, cleaning and maintenance of sanitary materials and instruments, health promotion, as well as administrative management tasks and warehouse control in medical services and consultations.

For several weeks, Pharmacy Technician students will train in the dispensing of pharmaceutical products and the preparation of non-sterile mixtures.

On the other hand, students in the higher vocational training cycle of **Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine** will be trained in simple and specialized radiology techniques, as well as computed tomography, ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging techniques, which they will perform in both the Radiodiagnosis service and operating rooms
