The Casa Mayor Guerra "El Castillo", a stately house from the 18th century located in San Bartolomé, was the setting chosen last Thursday afternoon to carry out the closing of the course 2022/23 of the Municipal School of Folklore of San Bartolomé, directed by the professor, Leo García.

An event in which the advanced level students participated, who were very supported by their parents, siblings and grandparents who did not stop applauding them in each of the songs that were interpreted during the concert. In addition, they had the complicity of the same, who accompanied them making palms and whispering some other chorus.

The Municipal School of Folklore has two modalities focused on the traditional Canarian musical repertoire; singing for soloists and musical instrument (Timple, guitar, lute, bandurria and bass), taught by Professor Leo García, who for this concert "End of Course", chose a varied repertoire with the most traditional of Canarian music, winking at islands such as La Palma with La Berlina, or El Hierro with airs of Mazurka. Without forgetting the Seguidillas de Lanzarote, Folias and Isa, to which the maritime airs were also joined with one of the most representative pieces of the Parranda Marinera Los Buches, "Querida Lola", followed by "Este es mi Pueblo", dedicated to San Bartolomé, a composition included in the album of the popular music group Teguey.

The main objective of the school, as Leo García explained: is the recovery, conservation, teaching and maintenance of the different manifestations of the traditional culture of our island, a work that is developed by teaching courses of nine months duration between the months of (October to June). Formed by a total of approximately 50-60 students per year divided into different levels of learning.

In addition, the event was attended by Isidro Pérez and the acting Councilor for Culture, Alma González, who shared a very endearing and familiar event where students and companions enjoyed the moment, ending the closing at the rhythm of Polka. The professor valued the performance of his students with a very positive note, extending it to players and soloists, ending the act the councilor Alma González who gave each of the participants a gift.
