A 60-year-old woman was injured this Friday after suffering a car accident. The woman has left the road and has been trapped inside the vehicle. The event took place shortly before 10:00 am on the LZ-701, the old Playa Blanca road.
It was the Yaiza Civil Protection officers who were in charge of releasing the woman from the vehicle while the firefighters arrived. As explained by the Security and Emergency Consortium, it has not been necessary to use the "extrication" equipment, but the injured woman did need help to get out of the car. The firefighters helped Civil Protection to finish the operation upon arrival.
The spectacular accident, according to 112, occurred when the vehicle fell down an embankment. The woman has suffered fractures in her knee and hip and several contusions and cuts. The medical personnel of the SUC have also come to the area. However, according to 112, upon arrival there was already an ambulance from a private company, whose personnel have been responsible for attending and transferring the patient. The Local Police of Yaiza and the traffic agents of the Civil Guard have also intervened in the event.
