National Police agents have arrested two men, 17 and 19 years old, in Arrecife as alleged perpetrators of a violent robbery. The arrested men struggled with a 71-year-old woman to steal her purse. After a chase on foot, the National Police agents managed to arrest the alleged perpetrators and return the purse to its owner.
The events unfolded when police officers who were carrying out crime prevention work in the municipality of Arrecife observed two individuals struggling with a woman to steal her purse.
After managing to steal her purse and realizing the police presence, these two people started running, being later intercepted by the police officers, who proceeded to arrest them as alleged perpetrators of a violent robbery. The agents verified that one of the detainees was underage.
The victim had to be taken to the Hospital
In parallel, police officers assisted the injured party, who was transferred to the Hospital to be treated for the injuries suffered.
In the security check of the detainees, the stolen purse was seized, which contained a mobile phone, a wallet and 50 euros that the national police returned to its rightful owner.
The arrest of the 17-year-old minor was brought to the attention of the Minors Section of the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Las Palmas, who ordered that he be placed at their disposal. After the corresponding police report was prepared, the detained adult was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
