A surveillance device established by the Civil Guard in the Corralejo Pier (La Oliva) with the aim of detecting drug trafficking by sea, has allowed an important seizure on Tuesday afternoon.

Agents of the Investigation Group of the Corralejo Post inspected the vehicles that disembarked from the ferry that covers the line between Playa Blanca (Lanzarote) and Corralejo (Fuerteventura).

The Civil Guard carried out these controls with the help of a dog trained in the detection of narcotics and when a rental vehicle was being registered, a bag was discovered in its trunk in which a large quantity of drugs was hidden.

The agents seized a total of 48 tablets of Hashish Resin, with an approximate weight of 250 grams each, which meant an amount close to 12 kilos.

For these events, the Moroccan subjects Y.K. and M.E.M., 27 and 23 years old, have been arrested, who have been accused of a crime against public health for drug trafficking, both being placed at judicial disposal in Puerto del Rosario.

The seized drug, significant for its quantity, was destined for sale and distribution on the island of Fuerteventura, which would have brought significant economic benefits to the two traffickers.
