Agents of the General Information Commissariat of the National Police arrested two people of Moroccan nationality with Spanish NIE this morning. They are a 32-year-old man and resident of Mataró and a 19-year-old girl from the municipality of Pájara, both integrated into the DAESH terrorist organization, according to La Provincia.
The detainees - integrated into the structure of the DAESH terrorist organization - had organized a sophisticated international network for capturing, indoctrinating and recruiting new followers in favor of the jihadist cause, and were in permanent contact with other operational members located in Syria. The members of this neutralized cell had already made public their oath of allegiance to the DAESH terrorist organization and its leader Abu Baker Al Bagdadi.
In addition, both carried out tasks of apology and exaltation of terrorism, distributing, through the internet, numerous multimedia material with the aim of extolling the operational capabilities of DAESH, and had made death threats in the name of DAESH to both Spain and France, as well as to other religious groups, inciting the commission of terrorist attacks against all those who did not profess their ideology. Thus, they also disseminated a multitude of executions of DAESH prisoners, accompanied by humiliating comments for their victims.
Another of the objectives sought repeatedly was to transmit an idealized image of their struggle, with the aim of persuading the youngest strata of Spanish society, susceptible to being attracted by this vision. In this context, the two detainees, following DAESH guidelines, disseminated the strategies marked by their leaders, distributing multimedia material for the use and handling of explosives and long weapons, all in order to facilitate the commission of terrorist actions to their activists.
According to the National Police, all of the above corroborates the new strategy deployed by the DAESH terrorist organization to favor the incorporation of new militants remotely, that is, it is no longer necessary to travel to Syrian/Iraqi territory to receive training. The training takes place in the activist's country of residence.
With this tactic, the DAESH terrorist organization intends to minimize the risks when its militants are detected by the police and, in addition, tries to obtain a double advantage: the global expansion of the terrorist premises of the Islamic State and the immediate commission of terrorist attacks.
This police operation is part of the continued fight that the National Police has been developing against the DAESH recruitment and indoctrination networks based in our country, and which aim to recruit new individuals, who acquire an unconditional commitment to their ideology, and who submit to their discipline of action.
The police investigation has had the participation of the Provincial Information Brigades of San Sebastián, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Barcelona and the Local Information Brigade of Fuerteventura, and has been developed under the direction of the Central Court of Instruction, Number 6, and the coordination of the Prosecutor's Office of the National Court.
In the home searches of the detainees, a large amount of computer material and various documentation has been seized, all pending analysis.
With this latest anti-terrorist operation, there are already 100 jihadists arrested in 2015 and a total of 175 in this Legislature.
The operation remains open.
