An abandoned vehicle caught fire on Tuesday afternoon on Antonio Bermúdez street, in the San Francisco Javier area, in Arrecife, according to the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

The alert was communicated by CECOES, which mobilized emergency services to the scene. Upon arrival, the personnel confirmed that the fire had originated in an abandoned vehicle located on a plot of land.

A woman used to spend the night inside the car, and at the time of the intervention, she was with agents of the Local Police of Arrecife and the National Police, without having suffered any harm.

As detailed by the Consortium, the National Police had previously acted using a powder extinguisher inside the vehicle, managing to contain the flames before the firefighters arrived.

Subsequently, the personnel finished cooling the affected area with water and removed the accumulated clothing and other belongings that were inside the vehicle to the outside to complete the extinguishing efforts.

Once the work was finished and it was confirmed that there was no risk of the fire reigniting, the service was concluded and the situation was reported to both the fire department headquarters and CECOES.
