Almost one in five rentals in Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura last less than 24 hours

The speed of the rental market in the province: 18% of express operations in the first quarter of 2026, despite a slight year-on-year drop

18% of homes that were rented through idealista during the first quarter of 2026 in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria were not even 24 hours on the market, according to a study published by idealista.com. A year ago, they stood at 19%.  At a national level, the percentage rises to 16%.  

The province of Barcelona leads the ranking with 34%, followed by Guipúzcoa (31%), Guadalajara (31%), Tarragona (26%), and Huesca (25%).

Above 20% are also Álava, Vizcaya, and Zamora (24% in the three provinces), Navarra (23%), Baleares (23%), Lleida (22%), La Rioja (22%), and Palencia (22%). Huelva reaches 21%, while Soria, Girona, and Zaragoza are just at the threshold of 20%.

Conversely, Teruel is the only province where no express rentals were registered (0%), followed by León (5%) and Salamanca (6%).

Regarding cities, San Sebastián, Barcelona, and Girona are the ones that register the highest percentage of express rentals. In the Guipuzcoan capital, 40% of the rented homes did not remain advertised on idealista for more than 24 hours, followed by Barcelona (39%) and Girona (33%).

Next are Tarragona, Huesca, and Palencia, with 30% in all three cases. They are followed by Guadalajara (29%), Palma (26%), Vitoria (24%), Bilbao (23%), and Santa Cruz de Tenerife (22%). For their part, A Coruña, Pamplona, and Logroño register 21% of express rentals.

Among the large real estate markets, the highest incidence occurs in Seville and Valencia, where 13% of homes were rented in less than 24 hours. They are followed by Alicante (11%), Madrid (10%), and Málaga (10%).

At the opposite extreme, Ceuta, Melilla, and Teruel are the only cities where this phenomenon was not registered during the first quarter of 2026. In León and Ciudad Real, express rentals represented only 4% of the total.
