The wind, rain and coastal phenomena storm has caused this Friday morning delays, cancellations and diversions in several flights at the Guacimeta airport, as well as cancellations of boat trips by several shipping companies.
The Guacimeta airport, despite being operational, has registered several delays, diversions and cancellations this Friday. The company Binter has reported that it has canceled all its departures and has assured that "as soon as the weather improves, they will be leaving." Both arrivals and departures of national and international flights are experiencing delays. The most significant, reports AENA, are those of the company Cóndor, whose flights to Munich, Dusseldorf, Leipzig, Stuttgart and Hamburg will be delayed between 4 and 5 hours.
On the other hand, 3 Ryanair flights have been diverted to Fuerteventura and two flights from Gran Canaria and another from Tenerife have had to return to their islands of origin, as the strong wind prevented them from landing in Lanzarote.
The situation in the ports is similar, with delays in the arrival of goods, cruises and maritime transport to the Puerto de los Mármoles due to the great agitation of the sea. The container and mooring docks, however, operate "normally", according to the Emergency Consortium. Those that have suffered cancellations this Friday are passenger ships. The company Fred Olsen has reported that the departure of the ferries that cover the Playa Blanca-Corralejo route has been canceled for this Friday, "unless the storm subsides". For its part, Naviera Armas has canceled the departure of the ship that was scheduled to leave Lanzarote for Las Palmas at 9 a.m., although for the moment and "depending on how the weather evolves" it maintains the ferries that go from Playa Blanca to Corralejo and whose departures are scheduled for 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
In addition, connections with La Graciosa have been reduced. Líneas Romero has reported that, of the 7 daily departures made by the company, only 2 ferries will continue to cover the Órzola-La Graciosa route. One of the departures was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and the other will be at 5 p.m.
On the other hand, the Cabildo has also reported that the Mirador del Río will remain closed throughout the day this Friday. In Arrecife, all the events organized on the occasion of International Children's Rights Day have also been canceled.
