The disappearance of a 14-year-old girl has dismayed the residents of Las Palmas and the rest of the Islands for ten days. On July 30, the disappearance of Sara Morales Hernández was reported, after which members of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade Units, the Family Support Service (SAF), and the Homicide group began the investigation to locate the minor, who was last seen in the vicinity of the La Ballena Shopping Center.
The data provided by the Ministry of the Interior highlights that she is a dark-haired girl with long hair, brown eyes, and 1.55 meters tall, who on the day of the event was wearing a denim skirt, yellow tank top, silver sneakers, and wore prescription glasses with metal frames. Sara's image has been sent to the media with the intention of disseminating it and helping in her search. In addition, the institutions have expressed their intention to collaborate and have agreed to "plaster all seven islands with the teenager's image".
The Canary Islands Superior Police Headquarters has provided a telephone number (928.30.48.31 or 091) that can be called by all people who believe they can provide data for her location. Sara's father has asked that the leads given be "authentic" given "the anguish" generated by the constant calls from people who claim to have seen the girl without being certain that it was her.
The president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, José Manuel Soria, and the mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Pepa Luzardo, met on Tuesday morning with Sara Morales' family and expressed their intention to do everything possible to spread the image. For the moment, they have already initiated contacts with advertising agencies to ensure that the missing person's photograph is on large billboards, in addition to making posters larger than those currently available (DIN-A4 size), which City Hall staff will be responsible for distributing throughout the city.
The girl's posters will also be distributed by the buses on all the islands, since the drivers are the ones who have the possibility of seeing more people throughout the day, as well as by the main private security companies on the island, so that all the guards who work in places with large concentrations of people have the girl's image well in mind and can identify her in case she is there.
Soria and Luzardo spoke of "flooding" all the islands with posters, in addition to contacting television channels so that they broadcast 30-second micro-spaces, not only at the time of the news. Luzardo explained that the reason for the meeting with the family was to "see how we can help them". Soria, for his part, argued that the police are doing a good job of searching for the girl.
