Five were finally arrested for the fire with injuries that took place in the early morning of August 14 in an occupied house in Arrecife, as reported this Thursday by the National Police. Specifically, the detainees were two men aged 26 and 31 and three women between 24 and 45 years of age for crimes such as attempted murder, robbery with violence or concealment.

According to the National Police, four of those arrested, two men and two women, forcibly entered the property from which its three occupants were allegedly selling narcotics, with the intention of stealing money and drugs from them. After "beating and tying up" one of them, they sprayed the interior with gasoline and started a fire. As for the fifth person arrested, according to the police force, he hid one of the alleged perpetrators in an apartment in Puerto del Carmen.

It should be remembered that the events took place on August 14 on Blas Cabrera Topham Street, where firefighters, several ambulances, Local Police and National Police were dispatched. There, the agents found three individuals lying on the sidewalk outside the house with injuries and burns of varying severity.

As La Voz reported at the time, the three injured were transferred to the Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife, although one of them, due to the severity of the injuries and burns he presented, was transferred a day later to the Burns Unit of the La Paz Hospital in Madrid in critical condition.

The motive, to steal money and drugs

According to the National Police, two of the victims told police investigators that two men and two women had forcibly entered the property where they were staying, with the alleged intention of stealing money and narcotics.

One of the victims was violently beaten and tied up inside by the assailants, who, according to the investigation, then sprayed the entire house with gasoline and started a fire, leaving the three men locked up with the alleged intention of ending the lives of all of them.

The police investigations allowed to identify all of them and arrest a few hours later the two women involved, whose arrests were already reported by La Voz, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of attempted murder.

The third of those involved was located and arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of attempted murder and robbery with violence in the town of Puerto del Carmen, where he had been hidden by a woman after the commission of the criminal offense and for which she was also arrested for a crime of concealment.

As for the second man involved in the events, the National Police was able to verify that he had voluntarily entered a penitentiary center to serve a sentence for a previous crime. Agents went there to inform him of his arrest as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of attempted murder and robbery with violence.

After the corresponding police report was prepared, the two women and the man arrested were placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered the imprisonment of all of them.
