Agents of the National Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria have become aware of a scam on job websites, where jobs were offered through the impersonation of the official body of the S.E.P.E (State Public Employment Service).

The complaint of the representative of the SEPE in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, informed the National Police that "several people had come to their offices showing the announcement of a fraudulent job offer." From the same organization it was verified, thanks to the evidence provided by several victims, that said announcement in job portals "impersonated the official organization." When entering the link, a document with the official acronyms and logos of the S.E.P.E was downloaded, where they requested the identification document such as the DNI or NIE, bank account number and a photo.

Safety tips

Below are some of the tips and precautions that should be taken when looking for a job:

  • Never will an official body request personal data such as bank account number through web links, because we should suspect that we are facing a scam.
  •  The official emails of the S.E.PE end in @sepe.es, so we should suspect any email account with another ending, as they may surely be fraudulent accounts.
  •  Never access the link they send us, as they can lead to fraudulent websites or facilitate access to our personal data.
  • If in doubt, contact the official body before providing personal data.
