The Local Police of Arrecife has managed to identify the perpetrator of throwing a large number of belongings and appliances on the public highway, in the Argana Alta neighborhood. The investigation of the local agents was activated after receiving a call alerting of the appearance of a large number of belongings, and disused appliances in Tenderete street, near a workshop in the area.
The spill appeared at the end of last September. Among them, according to the report of the Local Police, were found "a large number of belongings, including two refrigerators, an oven, clothes, sofas, furniture...". The investigation of the Local Police allowed to find inside these furniture thrown on public roads several documents and medical prescriptions, with names of residents in Arrecife.
Subsequent investigations by the acting agents, allowed to clarify that these discharges were thrown by a person hired by the owner of the property who had rented a property to the person listed in the documentation found in the abandoned waste. This owner "provided the data of the person he had hired for the cleaning and removal of these belongings and garbage that remained in the rented property." In the report, the owner of the house acknowledged the origin of those furniture and provided details about the rental of a van and the hiring of the services of a person - also identified - to clean the property and take away the belongings and appliances.
The capital's Local Police, after the clarification of this spill, has opened proceedings and has proposed to sanction citizen F.J.C.B. "for abandonment - including scattered garbage -, dumping, and uncontrolled management of any type of waste ...".
Law 7 / 2022, on waste and contaminated soil for a circular economy establishes that the economic penalty for these discharges can amount to the amount between 2001 and 100,000 euros.
The mayor of Arrecife, and head of the Department of the Local Police, Yonathan de León Machín, has congratulated the agents of the Local Police "for this rapid identification of the author of this spill on public roads and has remarked that the local agents, within their duties, will continue working perseveringly to control the incivility of some people and enforce what is stipulated in the ordinances and the Laws!.
