Three people testified this Wednesday in the Arrecife Courts in relation to the video, recorded from a vehicle, in which a motorcycle was seen riding on one wheel at full speed on the Circunvalación. These are the alleged owner of the motorcycle and the driver and co-driver of the car. All of them have denied reckless driving in court and even, in the case of the alleged motorcyclist, he claims that he was not the one driving and that his vehicle is not the one that appears in the video.
The defendant for these events, who was identified by the Local Police and summoned for this Wednesday in the Courts, has acknowledged that he has a vehicle of the same brand and model, although with some different aspects. The shoes worn by the motorcyclist, which are red, are particularly striking in the video. In this sense, the alleged owner of the motorcycle admits that he has the same sports shoes and also gloves like the ones that appear in the video, but alleges that anyone else could have those garments.
As the license plate has not been recorded in the images, the video will continue to be analyzed to find out if it is indeed the same motorcycle. One of the possibilities that will be investigated is whether this defendant has been able to make some modifications to his motorcycle during the days when the authorities were looking for him, in order to differentiate it from the one that appears in the video.
The driver and co-driver of the car deny reckless driving
As for the driver and co-driver of the vehicle from where the images were recorded, both have denied that they acted in agreement with the motorcyclist. In their statements, both have stated that when they saw a motorcycle doing a 'wheelie' on that road, they accelerated to record a video. They thus acknowledge speeding, but not reckless driving. In addition, they have stressed that it is the co-driver who captures the images, while the driver remains with both hands on the wheel.
The speeding could be proven by seeing the images, in which the needle of the vehicle's speedometer is seen exceeding the limits of that road. As for reckless driving, it will be the judge who decides, although the images also show how, possibly distracted by looking at the 'wheelie' of the motorcycle, the driver is forced to brake and overtake in order not to hit another vehicle that was driving in front.
