The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium has reported the prohibition of bathing this Wednesday in a section of Matagorda beach due to "wind and currents."

Matagorda beach is one of the large beaches of Puerto del Carmen. According to La Voz, the red flag is waving throughout the day in the section behind the Hotel Lava because "it is an area that is quite compromised today."

The island is on pre-alert for wind and adverse coastal phenomena. Therefore, the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands asks the population to take extreme precautions when walking near the coast or visiting the island's beaches.
