The Civil Guard of Costa Teguise has clarified a crime of fraud and another of theft. Civil Guard officers have arrested and investigated a male, initials M.U.M., 33 years old and Spanish nationality, "for two scams related to the acquisition of second-hand vehicles, in addition to stealing 3,500 euros in cash and about 2,500 euros in jewelry from his sentimental partner".
The investigation began as a result of the presentation of two complaints in the dependencies of the Main Post of La Orotava, in Tenerife, where the injured parties communicated "the delivery of an advance of 1,500 euros and another of 500 euros as a reservation for access to vehicles that are judicially auctioned". Supposedly M.U.M., "contacted the victims in bars or nightclubs in the area, offering this service in exchange for providing an economic signal depending on the vehicle that was intended to be acquired".
Subsequently, on January 29, a complaint was received in the dependencies of the Civil Guard of Costa Teguise where a crime of theft was reported, "allegedly perpetrated by the sentimental partner of the complainant". Specifically, it was indicated that he used "his particular mobile phone to carry out a series of scams of vehicles auctioned judicially".
The Civil Guard was also informed of "the alleged subtraction by M.U.M., of 3,500 euros in cash deposited in the house they shared, as well as the theft of a series of jewels of their property valued at 2,500 euros".
For all this, and based on the principle of coordination and police collaboration, the Civil Guard "became aware on January 31, that M.U.M., would travel by sea to the island of Lanzarote from Tenerife, where he usually carried out the scams for the acquisition of vehicles and that, in addition, he was returning with a vehicle that he acquired with the money that he had stolen from his sentimental partner".
For this reason, the agents of the Fiscal and Border Patrol (PAFIF) of Costa Teguise, went to the dock of the Port of Los Mármoles to locate M.U.M., upon his arrival. Once located, he was arrested and transferred to the dependencies of the Main Post of Costa Teguise to inform him, later, of his investigation for a crime of fraud and another of theft.
The investigation, according to the Civil Guard, remains open in order to locate possible victims of this scam as well as for the recovery of the stolen jewelry. The investigated and the proceedings carried out have been made available to the corresponding duty court of Arrecife.
