The Traffic Civil Guard is preparing the corresponding proceedings for a "possible crime of reckless driving" by a driver of a vehicle who "ignored" the indications of the agents who were going to notify him of a sanction for speeding more than 50%. According to sources from the Benemérita to La Voz, during the pursuit, which took them from Los Lirios to Femés, the man made a series of overtakings, "endangering other road users".
The events took place on the afternoon of last Saturday, when "the Traffic Civil Guard was carrying out surveillance and control of the road with a speed control" at the height of Los Lirios, in the municipality of Tías. It is at that point that a vehicle "was detected by the radar exceeding the permitted speed by more than 50%", which on that road is 80 kilometers per hour.
When the agents went to notify him of the administrative sanction for speeding, the driver of the car "ignored the indications", so the Civil Guard proceeded to "carry out a remote follow-up of the vehicle on a conventional road in order to verify the reason why he had ignored the agents' stop signal".
The agents' follow-up of the vehicle "lasted for 18 kilometers". In this journey, the vehicle made different overtakings to avoid being reached by the Civil Guard, "endangering the rest of the road users". Finally, in the Femés area, in the municipality of Yaiza, the car collided "with the right protective fence" and left "on the left side of the road". It was for this reason that the man, "driver and sole occupant of the vehicle", was "slightly injured".
Tested positive in the drug test
At that moment, the Civil Guard agents discovered that the man "lacked a permit that would enable him to drive class B vehicles", such as the one he was driving; in addition to also lacking the Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV). The agents also carried out the alcohol and drug detection test, "testing positive for drugs", according to sources from the Benemérita.
It should be noted that all these events constitute administrative infractions; since although having a license is a crime, it becomes an infraction when you have some type of driving license lower than the one that enables you to drive a certain vehicle.
For all these reasons, the Civil Guard is preparing the proceedings, which will later be presented in the corresponding Court.
