The Civil Guard of Yaiza has arrested a 44-year-old man after being caught with 1,140 grams of cocaine hidden inside his vehicle, when he was going to board one of the shipping companies that makes the journey from Playa Blanca to Corralejo, in Fuerteventura.

The events occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, July 14, when the Benemérita, in the course of a routine device for identifying passengers and vehicles, detected a driver who showed a certain state of nervousness in the presence of the agents.

Given his behavior, one of the agents decided to carry out a more exhaustive search inside the vehicle, locating certain anomalies in the upholstery of one of the rear doors of the car, verifying that in that area there was a rectangular package, hidden in the frame of the door.

This package tested positive for cocaine in the drug test, adding a total weight of 1,140 grams, so the immediate seizure of the drug was carried out.

The Civil Guard immediately activated the Cynological Service for a more complete check of the vehicle, not detecting more drugs than had already been seized.

However, the agents did detect anomalies among the driver's belongings, since he had fractioned bills of various values, which were also seized.

The passenger was arrested for the alleged authorship of a crime against public health, who also already had a police record.

Finally, the corresponding police proceedings were carried out by the agents, remaining at the disposal of the Investigating Court number 3 of Arrecife.
