Search for missing swimmer in Famara continues for third consecutive day

Since this past Monday, the search has been expanded to the entire north coast of Lanzarote and also to the island of Fuerteventura

The search for the bather who disappeared last Sunday, November 2, on Famara beach has resumed this Tuesday for the third consecutive day after the search and rescue efforts concluded without success when night fell this past Monday.

The 28-year-old of Indian nationality disappeared last Sunday in the area of El Papelillo, while spending a day at the beach with two other friends. One of them, a 37-year-old of Romanian nationality, died on the same beach after being caught by the waves

Participating in this Emergency operation are Maritime Rescue —with the Helimer helicopter—, the 1-1-2 helicopter, Civil Guard officers, firefighters from the Emergency Consortium, and members of Civil Protection. They have been joined by the Special Group for Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the armed institute.

Furthermore, since this past Monday, the search has been extended to the entire northern coast of Lanzarote and also to the island of Fuerteventura, in case the currents have displaced the missing young man to the neighboring island.
