The second day of searching for the young man who disappeared on Famara beach concluded this Monday without results. The emergency teams will resume the operation first thing this Tuesday, November 4, as soon as there is light, to continue the work by air, sea, and land.
Maritime Rescue is participating in the operation —with the Helimer helicopter—, as well as the 1-1-2 helicopter, Civil Guard officers, firefighters from the Emergency Consortium, and members of Civil Protection. In addition to searching the north coast of Lanzarote, the sweeps will extend to areas of Fuerteventura, as strong currents could have displaced the missing young man.
The tragic event took place on the afternoon of Sunday, November 2, in the El Papelillo area, when three bathers were caught off guard by the waves. One of them, a 49-year-old German citizen, managed to get out of the water on his own. Another, a 37-year-old Romanian man, was rescued unconscious by lifeguards, who were unable to revive him. The third bather, a 28-year-old of Indian nationality, remains missing.
