Agents of the National Police of Arrecife have arrested M.K., a young man of 23 years of age and with 30 police records, mostly for crimes against property, as the alleged perpetrator of the robberies in seven homes in the town of Arrecife. According to the police force, this same person has been arrested 19 times so far this year.
After being brought to justice after this latest arrest, the young man was released on charges. And according to the police force, the following day "he was caught in a supermarket in the city committing a theft".
Regarding the robberies in seven homes, the investigation began after the complaint filed by the victims. These, the Police explained, stated on several occasions to the agents that "during the night and while they were sleeping, they had entered their home, stealing several items from inside".
Thus, the police investigation was able to determine a similar "modus operandi" in the reported events. The agents verified that the robberies occurred during the early morning and access to the homes was, generally, "taking advantage of open or easily accessible doors or windows, with the occupants of the homes sometimes sleeping inside".
The police force points out that the perpetrator of these robberies always acted in a "very stealthy" manner. Once inside the homes, he mainly seized bags, wallets, mobile phones and, in general, objects that were "in sight" in the home. In some of these complaints, the victim even explained that he surprised the perpetrator inside the home and provided physical characteristics of the same, which coincide "fully with those of the detainee", according to the Police.
The subsequent police efforts were able to determine the identity of the alleged perpetrator, so the agents carried out his location and subsequent arrest. The detainee has 19 police records for arrests during this year and, according to the Police, he reoffended just the day after being released on charges, in this case with a theft in a supermarket.
