A 41-year-old man, with a long police record, has been arrested in Arrecife for stealing a mobile phone and attempting to assault an officer, according to the Superior Headquarters of the Canary Islands Police.
The events unfolded after a woman reported that an individual entered her car without a word and tried to steal her mobile phone. After a struggle, this person managed to snatch the terminal and fled the scene.
Police investigations determined the involvement in the events of a resident of Arrecife, well-known to the residents of the area for his aggressive attitude. The officers who went to the address were met with threats by the individual, who lunged at one of the police officers, being subdued and arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of robbery with violence and another of assault.
After the corresponding police report was prepared, the detainee was brought before the competent Judicial Authority. The police intervention was carried out by officers assigned to the Arrecife Police Station.
