Man arrested for four burglaries and reckless driving in Arrecife

According to the National Police, "when surprised by a police patrol, he fled, driving his car in the opposite direction and endangering numerous pedestrians"

Agents of the National Police have arrested in the municipality of Arrecife J.R.P., a 31-year-old man, with no police record, as the alleged perpetrator of a reckless driving offense and four robberies with force inside vehicles parked on public roads. According to the Police, the man, "when surprised by a police patrol, fled, driving his car in the opposite direction and endangering numerous pedestrians."

The events were triggered after a call to the 091 telephone number from a resident of Arrecife reporting that he had observed a man breaking the windows of several vehicles parked on the street, and then leaving them with various objects in his hands.

The police officers who went to the scene surprised the individual there, who got into a car and fled at high speed, driving through several streets of a leisure area of the capital of Lanzarote in the opposite direction to the usual one and endangering numerous pedestrians.

Stolen items such as sunglasses or a laptop were found


After abandoning the vehicle while it was running, the man hid under a van parked on the public road, where he was finally located by the agents and arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the crimes of robbery with force and reckless driving.

The car, owned by the detainee, was also seized and inside it, a large number of stolen objects were found, such as tools, sunglasses, documentation, fishing rods or a laptop, which were returned to their owners.

After the corresponding police report was prepared, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority. The police intervention was carried out by agents from the Arrecife Police Station.
