Las Kellys have been present this Monday morning at the "conciliation with the temporary employment agency and the Sandos Papagayo hotel", also in support of their "friend and colleague" who suffered burns after a work accident. The spokesperson for the association of cleaning ladies, Miriam Barros, has pointed out that "the Sandos has not appeared", while "the temporary employment agency did not want to reach an agreement". In the afternoon, they met in front of the Fremap building to denounce "the poor management of the mutual insurance company", commented the representative.

The conciliation form between the parties took place in the Mediation, Arbitration and Conciliation Section at the headquarters of the Arrecife Courts. That is where the Kellys met with the employee who, according to Barros, "is very affected", since she commented that "she has visited the dermatologist" and he has told her that "she has an infection in her arm and they have to operate on her". In addition, "the mutual insurance company wants to discharge her now", added the spokesperson for the group.

On the other hand, Las Kellys have taken advantage of this Monday afternoon to demonstrate in front of the Fremap office in the capital of Lanzarote. In this place, "about fifteen people" have gathered to denounce the "poor management" of the same, Barros asserted.

"We do not see clear cases of sick leave recognized"

This worker "is an example of the precariousness to which all Kellys are subjected and, in particular, those hired by temporary companies", commented the association. Likewise, she pointed out that the case of this hotel in Playa Blanca has clearly demonstrated how "Kellys hired by temporary employment agencies not only do not have the right to vacations, but we also do not see clear cases of sick leave recognized".

The events occurred at the beginning of this month of April when, according to Las Kellys, this cleaning lady "went to clean an iron in the Papagayo hotel without the necessary measures for the task", which did not correspond to her department either, she added. "The result of this serious series of negligence was serious burns on the arms and other parts of the body" of the worker, the group assured.

That is why, "the worker has filed the relative complaint with the Labor Inspectorate", Las Kellys have stated. Likewise, they have explained that their complaint was due to the fact that "not only did she suffer serious burns that the Mutual Insurance Company classified as mild, but she also saw how the company that hired her terminated her employment contract".
